Popular Men's Hairstyle 2017
Popular men’s hairstyles in 2017 are a little different than than last year’s trends. Overall we’re seeing more length, more texture and more messiness. While 2016 moved away from those Mad Men-inspired looks by trading in shiny products for matte, this year’s styles are looser and less structured.
Check out these fresh ways to wear the slick back, side part, spikes, high top and more.
1. Tousled Men's Hairstyles
There is styling and then there is over-styling. This cut and style work with hair’s flow for an easy to wear and ultra cool look.
2. Curly High Top
This year’s texture trend means guys with natural wave and curls are letting hair loose instead of cutting it off or slicking it down. This cool high top features a fade plus hair design with long curls on top.
3. Textured Spikes
Texture is working it’s way into all men’s hairstyles and changing others. Spikes are getting thicker and pointing in all directions, not just up.
4. Textured Crop + High Fade
This is one of the most popular haircuts of the year. While the forward fringe is most recommended for long, diamond, triangle and heart face shapes, it can look great on others too. Have a chat with your barber to see if this is a good cut for you.
5. Spiked Quiff
This is one of the best short haircuts for men because it looks longer than it is but is style easy to wear. You can also style this cut into spikes, something messy or a fauxhawk.
6. Messy Texture + Drop Bald Fade
A great option for thick or wavy hair, this cut leaves plenty of length on top to work with. This messy style uses a touch of product for piecey definition and shape. The fade starts up high and goes down to the skin, raising the natural hairline.
7.Side Part Hairstyles
The side part hairstyle is one of those looks getting more texture and length in 2017. Use a comb to part hair and work hair over to the opposite side but finish with fingers to create some thicker pieces and tousled finish.
8. Slick Back and Forward
Slicked back type styles are still on trend but with modern updates. This cool version with short hair adds height at the hairline while combing hair over to one side. Hair at the crown is combed forward to lie flat. This is a good example of how to adapt a style for the particularities of your hair.
9. Platinum Side Part Hair
This medium length side part hair with plenty of volume would stand out on it’s own but the platinum color takes it to the next level.
10. Medium Length Hair
Longer hair can actually be easier to style than short. Medium length hair has more weight that keeps hair from sticking straight up and more surface area for product to hold. Of course, the secret to many of the best men’s styles is blow drying. A few minutes of hot air train hair to stay in place, add tons of volume and create all day hold with minimal product.
11. Blow Back + Neck Taper
The blow back hair is exactly what it sounds like. Hair is blown back with some volume and a touch of messiness. This version showcases thick hair all over, with a low neck taper for an ultra clean finish.
12. Long on Top Hairstyle for Wavy Hair
If you have natural hair texture, a cut like this is a stylish and manageable way to let it out. Hair on top is cut to enhance wave while removing bulk. The high fade at the sides keeps it clean cut and easy to wear.
13. Short Curly Hair + Line Up
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is all about that natural texture. This is the shortest of afros with that signature rounded shape with a contrasting edge up at the hairline.
14. Medium Length Side Part Hairstyle
This is such a cool and modern way to rock the side part. With lots of height and wave in the style, the side part highlights how long hair is and transforms what could be a messy style into something intentional.
15. Short Hairstyle for Thick Hair
One of the cool features of 2017 hairstyles is hair going in all directions, but not necessarily in a messy bedhead kind of way. This short cut for thick hair leaves plenty of weight on top, adding some wavy height. The defined part and mid fade add to the controlled finish to this high texture style.
